Lyndon Guest House

Our Vision (it's Quite Simple!)

·To do as much as is practicable and affordable to reduce our environmental impact;

·To help our Guests to be ‘Green Visitors’;

·To run a business that is inclusive for all without discrimination or favour;

We have teamed up with Green Tourism to help us achieve our goals and to gain accreditation through their rating system. When we commenced our journey we were rated as Bronze and hope to improve this through 2022.

Some highlights from out Journey so far:

·We have a large array of Solar panels that provide free energy and allow excess to be fed into the grid.

·Elimination of single use packaging for room toiletries and breakfast jams.

·Increasing use of bio-friendly cleaning materials and elimination of harmful chemicals.

·Use toilet paper made from re-cycled fibres.

·In the kitchen eggs are exclusively free-range and RSPCA assured.

·Fairtrade suppliers for tea and coffee.

·LED lighting throughout the property.

·Motion sensor lights in communal areas.

·Re-use towel policy for multi-night guest stays.

·Diligent re-cycling of our and our guests, waste packaging and all food waste is composted.

·We carry a large range of leaflets on local attractions and activities.

·We have ‘renovated’ the rear garden digging and planting new beds, adding a sizable fish pond and provide bird feeders.

·We encourage guests on bicycle holidays by providing secure lockable facilities, and have hosted groups and individuals on the LEJOG route as well as the NC500 and one guest who was following a route as close to the coast around the whole UK!

·We also encourage walkers and can provide information on local routes including some car-free options direct from the house or using public transport.
